New ratings help you evaluate hospital care
You probably check restaurant ratings when you’re going out to eat. It’s easy to find out on your smartphone, tablet or computer what other people think about their dining experiences—there are sites like Yelp that let diners post reviews online.
Shouldn’t it be just as easy to find out what people think about the quality of medical care they receive? Well, now it is. A new feature implemented earlier this year on Medicare’s Hospital Compare Web site provides star ratings that indicate the quality of care people received at hospitals near you.Read Full Entry

You’re invited to enjoy an outdoor jazz concert!
The swinging sounds of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s will waft through the grounds of Ingleside at King Farm when the Greg Harrison Jazz Band performs an outdoor concert in the gazebo at 7:30 p.m. July 30.
The band specializes in recognizable tunes from the Great American Songbook based on the small bands that were popular during the Jazz era. Read Full Entry

Retirement community residents thank EMTs with sweet treats
The emergency personnel who serve Ingleside at King Farm are getting a delicious surprise this week—baked goods and other sweet treats prepared by the retirement community’s residents.
“We are going to two firehouses that serve our community,” says Debbie Loube, IKF’s Volunteer Coordinator. “The residents bake cookies and buy candy and nuts, and put them together on platters wrapped up with ribbons.” Another group of volunteers delivers the goodies to the firehouses. In the past, Loube says, the EMTs and fire personnel, who pull long shifts at the firehouses, have really enjoyed their treats.Read Full Entry
