It’s a good time to reach across generations

We hear a lot these days about conflicts between generations. But we all have much in common, and young and old alike can benefit from knowing people of different ages. 

That’s why some forward-looking folks designated September as Intergeneration Month, a worldwide celebration that encourages people to connect across generations. It’s a time to get together, learn from one another and share the wisdom of age and the enthusiasm of youth.

‘I Read It in the Paper’ engages residents

When Mark Barnett retired from the Federal government a few years ago, he knew he wanted to continue to use his skill as a communicator. 

“I had years of experience talking to groups of people, large and small, and I loved every minute of it. The problem was to find a volunteer setting that would allow me to do that.” 

And that’s where Ingleside at King Farm came in. Mark answered an ad for volunteers placed by Debbie Loube, the community’s Volunteer Coordinator, and he found a perfect fit.
