Ingleside Ensures a Welcoming Environment for the LGBT Community
Ingleside achieves highest-level care credential to elevate its person-centered services and programs


ROCKVILLE, Md. – Ingleside, a premier, charitable not-for-profit provider of comprehensive older adult opportunities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, recently completed SAGECare training to receive the SAGECare Platinum level lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) cultural competency credential.

"Ingleside is committed to offering an inclusive and welcoming environment to its diverse community of almost 800 employees, 1000 residents and clients, and the larger community," said Ingleside President and CEO, Lynn O'Connor. "As an organization that provides person-centered services and care, the Ingleside community is dedicated to care for each individual and is mindful of each person's unique history."
SAGECare provides training and consulting on LGBT aging services and offers training courses to educate service providers and care communities. It is the country's largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives LGBT older adults.

O'Connor added, "Our entire team within the Ingleside organization truly values our residents, and this certification highlights our dedication to providing an inviting environment for LGBT residents, staff, their families, and friends."

The SAGECare certification comes at a time when each of Ingleside's communities are adding more programs and services including Ingleside at King Farm's Gardenside in Rockville, Maryland, with 120 new independent living residences and a state-of-the-art Center for Healthy Living, and Ingleside at Rock Creek's Creekside in Washington D.C. with 105 new independent living residences and its own Center for Healthy Living. Both communities will also open new Assisted Living Memory Support residences this spring. Westminster at Lake Ridge's Westminster OnWard in Northern Virginia, an upcoming renovation project, will bring a new look to the community.
